Maybe you can try this, just to make sure you have the ACL populated correctly, based on the user (photocopier) accessing the mail-in database:
Set "Default" and "Anonymous" to "Reader" access. Let the photo copier do it's thing. Open the mail-in database, then look at the File->Application->Properties, click "i" (information) tab, then click on "User Detail". Check to see what "User" has been connecting to the database, then make sure that name is in the ACL with the exact same spelling/naming.
It could be that you have the ACL set to something like "copier1@domain.com" and the ACL contains something different, like "copier1/sales/domain".
